Oggiogiorno almost all have at least one email address that we can also access it via web as well as by PC. Very often the mailbox is provided by us which we signed a contract with ADSL. But there is a downside.
who usually provides us ADSL allows us to download emails on your PC only via the POP3 service offered by them. When you change the operator, although it could still use the mail box, there is no longer possible to download our emails.
It may be objected that just use an independent mail operator ADSL. Very true, but sometimes some mail provider "independent" provide access to the mailbox only via webmail, which is not exactly the best.
How to solve the problem then?
There is a small program to help: FreePOPs.
This is an open source application that allows us to download our email service bypassing the POP3 mail provider. In practice translates requests POP3 HTTP actions.
But the program is much more powerful than that. Though it may be used primarily to download our mail, can be used as an aggregator for RSS feeds, or to quickly create for ourselves a simple POP3 server that is reasonably fast, low memory consumption.
Being developed in C and LUA can be easily extended by creating scripts with these languages.
So a simple, versatile and well-documented that allows us to access our e-mail wherever we are.
