Mikao Usui: the history of Reiki

Mikao Usui was born in Japan in the village of Tania (now known as Miyama Cho) in the county of Yamagata, Gifu prefecture, August 15, 1865.

Person with extraordinary skill he put to good use by learning many arts. As an adult, for study, he visited many western countries and even China.

The religion of his family was the Tendai Buddhism and their children studied in a Tendai monastery. Became interested in martial arts from age 12 and soon became an expert, also practiced Kiko (a Japanese version of Qi Gong, energetic practice of Chinese origin).

Usui was a doctor in the strict sense, but the breadth of his culture he did recognize it as such in honor: he was an expert in philosophy, psychology, theology, had good knowledge of medicine and healing practices. Very versatile in nature was very fond of reading and dabbled in poetry. Very careful man, in many respects was extremely virtuous soul.

The experience of a lifetime dedicated to learning and the collection of information helped him to lead and expand the art then called Reiki.

The five principles of Reiki

According to the version sent by Takata, the five principles of Reiki would have been born following a meditation particularly inspired by Mikao Usui. In fact

Usui created the five principles based on the opening paragraph of the book entitled "Enzen no Genre" (literally: "The Principle of Sound"), written in 1914 by Suzuki Bizan. That paragraph, entitled "A Path to Sound" states: "Just for today do not be angry, do not be afraid, honestly, diligently do your duty, be compassionate with other men. "

The principles are not rigid requirements moralistic, the spirit that animates them is the feeling of unity and harmony of the individual with the cosmos. In view of Reiki, including them in our lives is to make the clean as possible channels universal life energy.

Mikao Usui advised to repeat them aloud and make them vibrate in your heart every morning and every evening, sitting (on the floor or a chair) relaxed, with your legs straight or in the lotus position, with hands crossed over their hearts (balancing) or come in the position called Gassho.

In this exercise, of course, as in every practice meditative, what matters most is the spiritual attitude, which is the genuine willingness to open your mind and heart:

The secret method to invite luck.

The marvelous medicine for all diseases Just today

1) Do not be angry
2) Do not worry
3) Be grateful
4) Work hard (on yourself)
5) Be kind to your fellow

the morning and at night sit in Gassho position and repeat these words out loud and in your heart.
